Celebrity Divers

Last month we were on a dive boat with Tim Russ (Tuvok on Voyager). And yesterday we had another celebrity diver encounter on our dive at Farnsworth Bank. During roll call, I heard the name “Mia Maestro.” Just as I was wondering to myself why it sounded so familiar, I spotted Nadia from Alias in the galley.

It’s always a little shocking to see actresses in person – they’re so tiny! They always look smaller and younger than they do on TV. Anyway, she was quite nice, and very friendly when I geeked all over her about being a big Alias fan. :)

  1. Barrie and I were discussing Actresses the other day when I was getting all excited about Juliet coming to DragonCon. You are right about them being so freaking little and wimpy. Nicole de Boer we now call her Nicole de Twig, and I still am not over Julie Benz, Darla, the kick ass vampire being this wimpy little thing that had a wet noodle handshake and was just drippy with NO personality (good actress though to go from her real personality to Darla). On the other hand Nana Visitor was petite but AWESOME!!!!! Her presence was bigger than mine! Alexandra Tydings from Hercules was so fun and full of personality…she was a hoot to be around, taller than most of the actresses I have met but still short on average and petite. Last year Ellen Muth was bigger than the average Hollywood actress AND had a personality, she was a very average girl like. Jewel from Firefly was short and slight, but she talked about how Josh made her gain weight for the part of Kalee. She had apparently lost it by DC. She was like someone you could hang out and have fun with. Summer was a southernbell transplanted to CA, but it came back to her as soon as she got off the plane. She was petite again, but she had personality and was fun to talk to and Barrie said she is much prettier in person. Morena, one of the few tall actresses I have met, but she was wimpy and no personality. So I have decided that it is better that I meet them at conventions get disappointed and can find something else to be excited about instead of meeting them in the grocery store, getting excited and then disappointed, and going home.

  2. All actors are around 5’8″, and actresses need to be shorter than them, so perhaps Anna has a shot at acting fame. ;)
